In 1964, a small group of parents and community partners came together and established The Resource Exchange to support people with disabilities to remain within their own community. They had a vision for their children with disabilities to thrive within their own community rather than being moved to institutions, a standard practice back then. These family members did not know what the future would look like today, but they created the ripples that enabled a future where more than 12,000 individuals are served by TRE and are able to live, work, play, and contribute to their community. This is a great achievement, and yet there is so much more to be accomplished.
